What Happens During a Root Canal?
Before starting your root canal procedure, Dr. Thore will administer local anesthesia to numb your mouth so that you do not feel any pain throughout your appointment. If necessary, she will also provide oral conscious sedation. Once you’re comfortable, she will make a small opening in your tooth before cleaning out the canals and removing the infected pulp.
After reshaping the canals, she will insert a biocompatible material known as gutta-percha, which will take the place of the pulp. Once complete, she will have a custom-made dental crown crafted so that it can be placed over the top of your treated tooth for maximum protection and strength.
